But it's borrowed sounds (like loanword), so Japanese people find it easier to say for example "bideo" instead of "video" >____<;
(as for the R, Japanese alphabeth don't have "L" at all xD they often mix it with L, as Yume said, because they don't "hear" the difference XD)

2010-11-02 [Aliz]: It is xD The two I mentioned =P But as I said, they're more written than spoken, because orally, people would rather say more "ue" than "we" and "b" rather than "v", but they understand it =)
He/she probably didn't mention it in a basic course (my teacher only did it when we asked about it), because people might misuse/misunderstand easily >______<
